I am utilizing fatty acid analysis to determine diets of striped bass over a timeframe of weeks. I am also examining the fatty acid signature of several striped bass prey taxa over temporal and spatial scales. This information will be used to improve how we manage striped bass populations.

During my time here at WVU, I will be examining how mountaintop mining and residential development are affecting the health of a southern West Virginia watershed. I will use macroinvertebrates and many physical and chemical stream variables to asses the overall ecological condition of Pigeon Creek. This information will aid in the development of a watershed restoration plan using a system of ecological units as currency for remediation.

I am evaluating mitigation success in the Little Coal River. More specifically, I am investigating the response of habitat quality, benthic macroinvertebrates, and fish to acid mine drainage mitigation efforts. I am also an avid golfer.

My research here will be focusing on rainbow trout and their thermal tolerance. I will be comparing several strains of rainbows against each other to look at differences between strains as well as individual variation in thermal tolerance. Growth rates and appetites will also be investigated for each strain.
